How to Connect HubSpot to Certifier to Automatically Issue Credentials

Automate issuing Credentials in Certifier using our native HubSpot automations.

Getting Started with HubSpot Automations

Certifier Automations follow a simple โ€œtrigger โ†’ actionโ€ logic.

  • A trigger happens in HubSpot (for example, a contact property changes or a contact is added to a list).

  • An action happens in Certifier (for example, issuing a credential).

Currently, there are two available triggers for HubSpot:


Trigger: Contact Property Changed

This trigger issues a credential whenever a chosen property of a HubSpot contact changes.

Step 1. Configure the Trigger

  1. Open the Trigger Configuration and select HubSpot as the app, then choose Contact property changed as the event.

  2. Connect your HubSpot account via OAuth: click on the Account field โ†’ +Connect New Account, log in, and allow access by pressing Connect App.

  3. Select the property you want to listen to (for example: Course Completed, Tier).

  4. Click Save & Continue. Your trigger is ready. ๐ŸŽ‰

Step 2. Configure the Action

Important Notes

  • The trigger fires only when a property value changes (e.g., Bronze โ†’ Silver).

  • If a contact is created with the property already filled, no credential is issued.

  • If a contact is created with the property empty and then updated (e.g., โ€œโ€ โ†’ Bronze), a credential is issued.

  • Multiple changes in a short time (e.g., Bronze โ†’ Silver โ†’ Gold) will issue a credential for the latest value only.

  • Updates where the value stays the same (Bronze โ†’ Bronze) are ignored.

  • Contacts without an email cannot receive credentials.


Trigger: Contact Added to a List

This trigger issues a credential whenever a HubSpot contact is added to a specific list.

Step 1. Configure the Trigger

  1. Open the Trigger Configuration and select HubSpot as the app, then choose Contact added to a list as the event.

  2. Connect your HubSpot account via OAuth: click on the Account field โ†’ +Connect New Account, log in, and allow access by pressing Connect App.

  3. Select the list you want to monitor.

  4. Click Save & Continue. Your trigger is ready. ๐ŸŽ‰

Step 2. Configure the Action

Important Notes

  • The trigger fires when a contact is added to a list.

  • Contacts already in the list before activation will not receive credentials.

  • If a contact is removed and later re-added, a new credential will be issued.

  • Contacts removed from a list will not lose credentials already issued.

  • Contacts must have a valid email address in HubSpot to receive credentials.

  • Works with both static and smart lists.
